i appreciate that
I really love your classes.
Hello - I am a foreigner living the State for the last 35 years and I can swear that the natives pronounce "Thank you" as "Tann-k you" The hyphen between the n and k, seems to be like a small pause. The 'a' in this word sounds like a long vowel 'a'. This becomes more apparent when the natives speak very fast. Am I the only one that have noticed this sound? Please help.
thanks
Hello, it's a lovely place to get help ❤
You saved my life. Thank you.
Idc how he pronounces it lol its "yella" 🤣
I don’t think I’ve ever heard an American speaking so clearly 😳
Thank you so much It’s really helpful 👍🏻
Great video In Saskatchewan it has always been the last one. I also feel like we butcher the word “Aluminum” Would like to see a video on that one. Please!

Dionysius
Hi, I can cover "Dionysus" in a future video for you.
Dear, do you have a playlist for A1 level? You have a super American pronunciation. I want to learn on your channel English USA. I myself am from Tbilisi.
Hi, thanks for watching. I don't have a specific playlist for A1 level, but you can see our playlists here: www.youtube.com/@SpeechModification/playlists
American here because I keep hearing other Americans pronounce it “ack-er-it” instead of “ack-yur-it.” Trying to figure out if that’s a regional pronunciation or what. I’m from PNW and learned it with the yur sound in the middle.
Hi, I think it's just an alternate pronunciation (or mispronunciation) that has developed and isn't in any particular region. It is listed as used in Merriam Webster but not as a standard pronunciation.
Madam some words starting from "ex" pronounce like "Ik" &" ek" google show both "I & e" letters at beginning. but Oxford shows "I or e" eg: Experience - ɪkˈspɪəriəns Exercise - ˈeksəsaɪz Expect - ɪkˈspekt Except - ɪkˈsept In our country, people mostly use "ek" sound at beginning. is it okay or not madam?
Yes, the vowel can usually be ɪ or ɛ, you just need to make sure that the vowel is short and reduced when the stress isn't on the first syllable. Here are some videos for your words: ruclips.net/video/9E0yTKt37as/видео.html ruclips.net/video/C9yAG2_wjCk/видео.html
Madam some words have "e" sound. but pronounce like "ɪ" Respond - rɪˈspɒnd Resist - rɪˈzɪst what should I use ? can I use interchangeably ?
The most important thing is to use a short unstressed vowel. It is better to use ɪ but if you use "ee" /i/ it will sound okay as long as the vowel is short and unstressed. I talk about this here: ruclips.net/user/livegFO5y-vwoMk
Madam some words have "e" sound. but in our county people mostly use "æ". Message - ˈmesɪdʒ - m æ sɪdʒ Bet - bet - b æ t Is there something to happen this madam?
This often happens for Arabic speakers, and some other native languages, because they have no /ɛ/ and /ɪ/ sounds. They tend to use the vowel /ɛ/ where they should use /ɪ/, and the vowel /æ/ where they should use /ɛ/ when speaking English.
Very simple and useful madam
Thank you very much
Is this an insult or just the name of the musical artist? On the urban dictonary it says its a derogatory word used for fat-phobic remarks, literally translated to french fry tank?
This is the name, but I assume the name was chosen for humor or shock value or some other reason. It's the same as the insult.
Thank you so much!
Thanks madam 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks a lot madam
Fala demais!!!! Muita informação não necessária
Nope, TOO-leh. From the company: ruclips.net/video/hNQQBNtKD4c/видео.html
Thanks for the link. In Swedish, the original language where the name comes from, its "too-LEH" with a slightly different second vowel sound. In German, they use the first syllable stress "TOO-leh," also with a different vowel for the final syllable. In English, we have different pronunciations for the noun vs. the adjective: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Thule
This is why dislikes shouldn't have been removed
That's a good insult, I like it! Did you think of it yourself, or did you see it somewhere else and copy it?
You’re extremely excellent teacher thank you
Thanks for your support!
Hi, I'm not sure if the pronounciation changes, but I've seen in old books spellings like coördinate when two dots appear over the vowel. Do you know why is that? or it's simply that the author want us to know that he's taken notes from German, maybe.
I can research it and let you know, but my assumption based on your example is that it shows the stress and that there's a prefix and main word. Like it could also be written as "co-ordinate."
Just double checking cordial! lol *English still has a long way to go IMO lol.*
😯😮 I have to practice it! 🤗
thank u
Why not cam-a-rah-derie?
That's also a correct pronunciation. In US English, we often use whichever version of the pronunciation has fewer syllables. For example we often say "in-tris-ting" instead of "interesting" ruclips.net/video/YsuJVSalmRM/видео.html and "groc-rey" instead of "gro cer y" ruclips.net/video/7Ue7ytAjcjQ/видео.html
Thank you for your help, teacher 😊
Thanks for watching!
It should be pronounce "hero for Palestine"
Thank you a lot. This video helped me a lot
Glad it helped!
I'm Brazilian and when I hear an American pronounce the word "bad" I understand it as "b + eh + ah + d" and not as in the video "b + ah + eh + d". I'm confused.
Hi, the symbol /æ/ is for one sound, which doesn't glide, it's just a more forward sound than the Portuguese /a/ "ah" sound. You might find these videos helpful: ruclips.net/video/5_BKfkhORgc/видео.html and ruclips.net/user/live9_ZilnZv-do
@@SpeechModification I've watched the videos now, but I still notice a subtle connection between "eh" + "ah". The sound for me in Portuguese is like subtly connecting the vowels in the same pronunciation: "é" + "a"
@@Teuopoty Yes, that makes sense actually, because the "é" is forward and the "a" is open, and if you take element of both you'll get the forward open /æ/. I just wanted to clarify not to glide on this vowel, but rather be steady. Sounds like that's what you're hearing/saying.
@@SpeechModification Yes that's right. I didn't know what "glide" was, so I researched and discovered that in the English language all vowels can be divided into two main categories: diphthongs and monophthongs. And that diphthongs are sliding vowels in whose articulation there is a continuous transition from one position to another. In contrast, monophthongs are immutable or stationary vowels, that is, they are vowel sounds produced by a stable and unchanging articulation. This means that the tongue and other articulators remain in a relatively fixed position for the entire duration of the vowel sound. From what I understand, I have to pronounce the Portuguese vowels "é" + "a" in the same articulation without moving the lip, jaw and tongue, just oscillating the air passage in the vocal cords. In the Portuguese language there are also diphthongs and monophthongs, but in monophthongs the vowel is inaudible, as in g"ue"rra, q"ui"nta. In Portuguese, a monophthong is a vowel resulting from the reduction of a diphthong; for example, the "o" of "o"relha (in Latin "au"ricula, which gave rise to "o"ricla). Thank you for clarifying my doubt. Sorry for being a little stubborn.
Glad you figured it out! No worries, I'm happy to help when possible.
Really great thanks
Thanks for watching!
Madam, in words like Today - təˈdeɪ Tomorrow - təˈmɒrəʊ Together - təˈɡeðə(r) Have schwa sound after letter "t" But we often hear it as "tu" , like tuˈdeɪ tuˈmɒrəʊ tuˈɡeðə(r).. What is correct madam? Why that happens?
Hi, the correct pronunciation is tə, but if we say the words by themselves, or slowly, or in certain contexts, we might have more of a clear /u/ vowel in the first syllable. I talk about these words in this video: ruclips.net/video/j9H_MMUbFhc/видео.html
Good
Hey teacher I been having this question for a long time and i would appreciate if you could answer In words like cost that end with st How can we pronounce them if they get * s * at the end of them Like costs , roasts and ….
